Don’t know your sound bath to your breathwork? Jasmin Harsono from Emerald & Tiger breaks down the 3 holistic methods she will be using in her Breathe Love workshop at FRAME Fitzrovia this Thursday at 7pm.
What is Breathwork?
Breathwork has been around for thousands of years and stems from many different cultures and practices for example Yogic traditions of Pranayama, Qi-Gong and the more modernised practises that you may have heard of such as Wim Hof, Holotropic and Transformational breathwork. When we manipulate or consciously connect to our breath through various controlled breathing exercises we can learn how to calm our nervous system, reduce stress, boost our immune system, have more clarity and focus and bring a deep inner state of awareness that helps us navigate life with ease and flow.
The breathwork that I will share in this session is loosely base on Holotropic breathing but as I intuitively work with the group this can change to ensure that individually and as a group everyone receives the best care and support.
I always say that our breath is a prelude to it all. It guides us inwards and helps us to remove the layers that keep us stuck. By using the breath we can reach our true state of being. The breath is therefore the foundation of this practice but aided by Reiki, Touch, Affirmations and Sound healing.
What is Reiki?
Reiki, pronounced ray-key is a profound and transformative Japanese holistic healing therapy and spiritual pathway. Reiki translates to universal or spiritual energy and is the life force energy within us all and which permeates the entire universe. Reiki supports the body’s natural ability to heal, balancing and aligning the mind, body and spirit.
The system of Reiki of which we practise and teach was founded by Mikao Usui born in Japan, 1865.
Reiki really supports us to remove stagnant flow as we tap into our life force energy. I love using the combination of breathwork and Reiki to help get everything within us moving again.
What is a Sound Bath?
We are all made up of energy and vibration. Sound is part of us and expands way beyond what we can hear. It connects us to our emotions, feelings, memories and thoughts. Healing sounds and frequencies flow through the various sound tools and instruments shared to the physical and subtle energy fields within and around the body, moving us from a place of imbalance to a state of whole.
Sound therapy may aid meditation, decrease stress (reduce cortisol levels), improve sleep (increase melatonin) and release our natural mood-boosting hormones. (serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin and endorphins).
At the end of the class, sound is used as a cocoon to embody all that has been received during the session.
