What makes your class so f'cking awesome?
My classes are fluid and raw with a deep emphasis on the breath as a way to realise and expand creative life energy, known in yoga as Prana. My progressive vinyasa practices honour tradition by weaving intention, philosophy, postures and breathwork in a way that is both challenging and restorative in equal measures. Expect to build a cleansing heat through namaskars, creative core and potent pulsating movements all generously supported by hands-on assists and spacious guided relaxations.
What was your journey to becoming an instructor? How the hell did you get here?
At Art School, I tried a couple of kundalini yoga classes and loved the high vibes without understanding why! Something shifted and was ignited- I connected to myself and cared more. 3 years later in 2010, propelled by curiosity, India called and my heart answered. There I literally followed the (hand painted) signs to meet my first teacher and good friend Sajee, we practised every day at sunrise and sunset in his beautiful family shala- I quit my job in London and stayed out for 3 months to take his teacher training. Since then I have been lucky to enjoy more immersions, teach regularly in this incredible community in London and have shared on retreats around the world. I teach what's true to me: with inspiration from hatha and vinyasa from the Sivananda and Bihar Schools and Prana Vinyasa Flow by global yogini Shiva Rea.
What’s your favourite way to keep a healthy body and a healthy mind?
Time to myself outside in fresh air and cool water, I swim outdoors several times a week and this is vital for me! I also love to draw- to be absorbed in a creative process is very healing for my mind as a form of meditation. Also making sustainable & environmentally responsible choices- our health is completely intertwined with the health of our environment, so reducing waste and buying organic and packaging-free keeps mind, body & earth happy. Plus cake.
