What makes your class so f’cking awesome?

I endeavour to create an atmosphere where students feel supported, and inspired to make space for growth.

What was your journey to becoming an instructor? How the hell did you get here?

I had my first meaningful encounter with yoga in New York City a decade ago, and I have been devoted to the practice ever since. Along the way, I enjoyed three stints (one in New York, two in London) practising karma yoga - exchanging custodial duties for yoga; karma yoga is a thoroughly enriching way to embody yogic philosophy while developing one's practice. After I attended my first yoga retreat, in Turkey, I decided to pursue teacher training...and here I am!

Who's your fitness hero? Why?

Michelle Obama. Have you seen her arms? They are an emblem of her undeniable excellence.

What is your signature move / style?

I dig arm balances. The sensation of flying is transcendent, and I love the satisfaction of feeling aspects of a pose 'clicking' into place and uniting to create a finished product. With crow pose, for example - control of the core, focus and release of fear, are as crucial to executing as arm strength. Direct your gaze forward, engage your core, employ some self-belief, and maybe pop a cushion under your face (just in case).

What makes you, you?

I am in thrall to the English language, words, and self-expression.

What's the best piece of advice you've been given?

'Whatever the Universe has for you will not escape you.' This is a secularised version of advice my mother has long espoused.

If you weren't an Instructor, what would you be?

A wellness advocate and educator (I have worked in higher education for 15+ years)

What does your downtime look like?

Reading, journalling, meditation and walks in nature.
