GOOD THINGS HAPPEN WHEN YOU MOVE YOUR FRAME

Instructors

RENE FOURIE

What makes your class so f’cking awesome?

The energy, corrections and this friendly instructor

What was your journey to becoming an instructor? How the hell did you get here?

Well apparently it started from my teens. I would attend the gym, classes, even dress up and do my own workouts at home to Ace of Base since the age of 16 but never ever considered it a career. It took me only 20 years to acknowledge my purpose... So by accident it happened. The realisation set in all within a week; that one Monday 2014 I did not see it coming, nor did I even envision myself teaching. Wednesday I saw the light and Friday I handed in my notice from a career in sales and marketing to teaching the following week. When you know you know!

What is your signature move / style? And an essential tip about it / common mistakes that people make...

My signature move may be lunges; or any single leg manoeuvres. They will always, and should always be in a program. Why? Because every day we all are walking, running, stair climbing, etc which are all single leg moves. There are so many ways to 'lunge', it depends what the goal is and how you're structured.

What does your downtime look like?

Exploring, and more exploring either on foot or a bicycle. Sometimes dreaming of being back surfing in Morocco...

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

"Move with the times" (from my mum the other day) - she is such a determined woman who has great drive in life.

If you weren’t an Instructor, what would you be??

Brain surgeon or jewellery designer and manufacturer. I do have a desire to be a part-time cake decorator but I don't like cake so I'm still trying to figure out how the relationship with this one will come together.
